a band called "NegativeLand" was sued to the nuts by those dickheads for an EP they put out called "U2" and the song "The Letter U And The Numeral 2". I've despised U2 ever since. Love the original U2, great plane.
I believe U-2's are now mostly used for Tactical Reconnaissance and are designated TR-1. The SR-71 was retired because it's very expensive to fly and satellites now do all the spy work. The U-2 will likely be retired around 2014 when the unmanned Global Hawk will take it's place.
wicked plane no doubt. back in the day USAF would use 396 ElCamino's to chase these bastards down to put in the brace wheels on the wing tips so they could land. bitchen.
I once traveled from England to Moscow to watch a football (soccer game) that was called off. I spent the day looking around the War Museum instead and proudly displayed in the corner of the second floor is the wreckage of the U2 spyplane the Russkies shot down.

U2 makes me not want to admit I'm part Irish.
As for the U2, it's one bitchin' plane. Why they retired the SR-71 is beyond me though. I like those even more.
U2, Brutus...

I once had a T-shirt if Bono's profile in the cross hairs...
Not an easy thing to wear in Boston.
God, I hate that band.
