S&S announces X-Wedge unveiling in Japan

S&S ANNOUNCES X-WEDGE UNVEILING IN JAPAN

LA CROSSE, WI (December 7, 2007) S&S Cycle® announces the unveiling of the all-new X-Wedge™ engine at the Cool Breaker Show in Yokohama, Japan.

Working with Chopper Dave of Chopper Dave’s Casting Company in Hawaiian Gardens, California, the X-Wedge was incorporated in Dave’s new project, The Secret Weapon. Aside from the Project X bikes that toured with S&S this year, Chopper Dave built the first real chopper with an X-Wedge just for this show.

“This was my third trip to the Cool Breaker show and this was perhaps the most exciting because we were there to not only support the show, but also to unveil the X-Wedge with Chopper Dave,” said S&S president, Brett Smith. “What was especially gratifying for me was to have my cousin and another 3rd generation family member, Michael Scaletta, present to experience the event after having spent several days visiting our dealers. We both agreed that Chopper Dave did an excellent job taking our new engine and presenting it in an ‘Old School’ fashion.”

There are many special features on this bike like the cast aluminum gas tank and the cutaway belt cover on the cam side. The X-Wedge utilizes three belt-driven cams in a belt chest making this custom trick possible. The Secret Weapon is a bare-bones bike made to ride. Light and nimble, with plenty of braking power to reel in the torque of the 117ci X-Wedge, is the best way to describe this minimalist bike. Said Chopper Dave of his project, “I am building this bike to ride, I hate bikes that you can’t really ride so I’m setting it up as a fast street bike, modeled after the club bikes out of Frisco in the early 70’s.”

The Cool Breaker Show in Yokohama, Japan is a huge event for S&S. It allows S&S staff to spend quality time with customers and dealers in Japan, learn what they are looking for from S&S. Additionally, the caliber of the bikes at the show is nothing short of amazing.

“I would like to personally thank Chopper Dave for his hard work and passion for allowing the S&S unveiling of the X-Wedge to be successful in Japan,” said Michael Scaletta, Director of Business Development. “As a 3rd generation family member of S&S, I am very excited about the Japanese market; especially the passion and enthusiasm the Japanese have for American v-twin motorcycles,” continued Scaletta.

Chopper Dave will have the Secret Weapon back in the states soon and plans on using it for daily transportation around Southern California. Additional information about the all-new X-Wedge can be found at http://www.sscycle.com/ and www.x-wedge.com/
